Star Search Manawatu 2012 Information Sheet

Star Search Manawatu is an opportunity for young performers in dance, drama and music to showcase their talents to the community.

Goal:

The primary goal is to foster and showcase the talent of young performers in our area.

When:

Auditions will be held on Friday evening 25^th May and during the day on Saturday 26^th May 2012.
The final gala evening will be held on Sunday 17^th June 2012.

Where:

Auditions and the gala evening will be held at the Feilding Civic Centre's Concert Chamber.

Event Description:

Any young person, or group, between the ages of 8 - 18 active in the performing arts will be eligible to enter.
There will be six divisions for competitors

Groups of three or more in each of the three age groups. (The age group will determined by the oldest member of the group)

Performers will be auditioned and assessed by a panel experienced in the each of the disciplines being performed.
The best performers will be invited to participate in the gala evening.
The gala evening will be directed by a professional, will be rehearsed and hosted by a well known personality.
The gala evening will be hosted by a popular celebrity in order to attract the widest possible appeal and to ensure successful event.
Awards will be made to the most promising performer in each group to enable their participation in further tuition.

Participants:

Performers - invitations will be sent to all Schools, Dance Schools, Drama Schools and Music teachers in the area inviting participation.
Volunteers - All the judges, the director, musical director, lighting and sound engineers, ushers and front of house staff will be providing their services free of charge.
Management Team - The team is John Gregory, board member of the Feilding Civic Centre Trust, fellow trust board member, Frank Dew, and Carmen Davidson of Dance Unlimited with administrative support being provided by Steve Poole.
